‘Joy’ is a project by Mollie Garratt, which channels the profound influence her mother has had on her, her whole life. Garratt’s work is a tribute to the woman who shaped her aspirations and instilled a deep appreciation for resilience. She seeks to celebrate her mother's achievements as an Olympian, capturing both moments of strength and her dedication to the sport, which continues in her work. Each photograph is a deliberate attempt to encapsulate the duality of her life, whilst also encouraging the viewer to reflect on the influential people in their lives. Ultimately this project is a thank you to her mother, not only for what she has taught her but also for the sacrifices she has made.
